Climate change is a development issue affecting lives of people irrespective of their placements in rural and urban areas. The issue of climate change has clearly impacted lives of everyone. Everyone can feel the effect of climate change in terms of erratic weather conditions, shrinking glaciers and the shift in the plant and the animal ranges. Climate change can be mitigated only through sustainable management of natural resources like land, water and forest. Community engagement will bring effective natural resource management as the local communities are repositories of managing the resources effectively which dates back historically. It will also help the community to cope up with the adverse effects of climate change on their livelihoods. Also focus needs to be given to the projects on the use of renewable source of energy along with land, water and forest conservation projects. This approach focuses on managing both demand and supply side of dependency on the natural resources. Thus we support projects in preparation of Detailed Planning Report and implementation of watershed projects, technical designs of watershed structure, capacity building of local cadres and community based organisations in the implementation and developing governance mechanisms on productive assets created during the process of natural resources management.
